| I've
tried to change my DNS at the registrars how do I know it's
worked ?
When you change your DNS (Domain Name Servers) it should show
up within 12 hours. It then takes a further 24 to 72 hours
for those changes to take effect right across the internet.
Different
ISP's (Internet Service Providers) take different amounts
of time to update their DNS records.
You
can check at your registrars whois section.
During
this time one, two or any amount of the following things may
happen..
Your
old site will disappear
Your old mail will stop working
Your old and new mail servers may both work
Different customers on different ISP's may see the two different
sites
Within
approx 48 hrs
Your new site will appear
Your mail system will fully work
We
recommend a strategic switch of DNS - most businesses change
theirs on a Friday just before close, go home for the weekend
and forget about it and when they come in on Monday morning
the new servers have already been working for them!
Unlike
most hosts we give you access to your hosting before your
domain has resolved. You can upload your site via the IP and
your username and theoretically your site will switch with
little to no downtime at all.
